How did I get into longboarding?

When I had moved from my hometown, I had moved to a place where skating and longboarding were very popular. I remember checking out all the stores at the shopping center next to where I lived. That's where I saw longboards for the first time in person.

At the shop, they let you stand on and ride them around for a bit. After I left the store, I went home and researched longboarding. The sport looked so fun, and I wanted to try it out for myself. I asked my parents to get me one, and I had to wait a really long time and work really hard to buy one.

At first, I ended up buying a cruiser board just to get used to skating, because I had never done it before I moved. I knew some people skated where I used to live, but it didn't really appeal to me. When it did, I was hooked immediately, and I still am.

After a few months having my own board, I still wanted more. Every time I went back to the shopping center, I always went to that shop with the longboards. I began to research the kind of longboard I wanted, and every day, I learned a little more about the sport, and which kind of longboard I wanted to get.

A few months later, close to my birthday, my father finally ordered the parts I wanted for my longboard, and after a week, it finally arrived. I couldn't wait to assemble it and ride it.

I remember the day I went to my local park, and rode my longboard for the first time. It was a different experience than with my skateboard. I could go faster and faster, and it felt more free. At that moment, I knew I loved longboarding, and I wanted to do it for hours.  Eventually, my brother and sister became interested in longboarding, and they got boards of their own. Now, its one of my favorite things to do with my siblings, and we all enjoy doing it.

Now, I'm learning how to do tricks and sliding on my longboard, and I bought some new parts, and customized my longboard to how I like it. I think I will continue to love this sport, and I bet anyone else will too.

Below is a picture I took when I got all the parts of my longboard, and put it together. I also got a poster from the company, LandYachtz, along with the parts.
